Yesterday marked the grand opening of Jackson Hole’s new building. This 13,500 sq ft hydroponic greenhouse is known as Vertical Harvest. Utilizing only 1/10 of an acre it can produce the equivalent to 5 acres of traditional agriculture. That’s over 100,000 lbs yearly!
This indoor garden allows vegetables to be sold to the community year-round. That’s extending the growing season by eight months. Now Jackson Hole residents and visitors can enjoy local, fresh produce in their restaurants and grocery stores. These fresh products are also available to the public through Vertical Harvest’s market and online store.
Premier Powder Coating and Custom Fabrication was happy to provide customized laser cut items for Vertical Harvest. These parts included: windows for the greenhouse system, drip pans, shelves in which the plants are hosted, and even decorative art. (see photo below)
Vertical Harvest is committed to helping the community in more than one way, the provide employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. Statistics show an unemployment rate of 78% among Wyoming’s employable developmentally disabled residents. The Vertical Harvest team includes 20 local residents with intellectual disabilities.
Premier was excited to have worked with Vertical Harvest on this community-benefiting project.
